The Workplace Paradox

The ‘world of work’ is changing faster than we can all keep pace with. New industry disruptors unsettling the ‘traditional office’, accelerating technologies, creating new dynamics at work, new demands by a high expectation workforce, a continuing talent war, whilst co-existing with the threat of job replacements through AI is contributing to a workforce under pressure like never before.

This talk will explore the forces driving change in the workplace and showcase some of Gensler’s latest research into this field and demonstrate through selected case studies how people are reclaiming ‘place’ in a ‘placeless world’.

The speaker will be Philip Tidd. He is the Head of Consulting Europe/Director, Germany. With more than 20 years of experience in workplace consultancy, real estate advising, and design and urban strategy, Philip has worked with global organizations across mainland Europe to implement workplace programs attuned to the region’s many cultural and legislative variations. Philip has also advised numerous European public-sector organizations on how enhanced work environments can lead to improved performance.

Through his conference participation, articles and blogs, Philip regularly addresses how the rapidly changing nature of work impacts people, buildings and cities. An active member of CoreNet Global, The British Council of Offices and the Urban Land Institute, Philip serves as an Adjunct Professor of the Master of Workplace Design course at the IE School of Architecture in Madrid/London.
