Master Class: Fake News and Post Truth, with Professor Susana Torres

Truth is behind some key concepts currently on the media today: fake news and post-truth. In this practical session we will analyze what fake news really are (haven’t all news always been faked?) and what is the difference between post-truth and a blatant lie by assessing how everyday headlines correspond to the concepts studied in the first session.

Beyond the physical world, there are many things we know, or we think we know, or at least recognize when they happen: love, friendship, loyalty, freedom. Existence of things is not always something we can empirically demonstrate, or quantify, but they do exist. The branch of philosophy that has always looked into what is there beyond physical reality is metaphysics, and in this seminar we will look into the centuries-tradition study of the essence of things, including us.
